Note
to every college and future college students out there when you can get your
sleep get it. I swear you are going to
need your rest and energy in class. It was truly the struggle for me to stay
awake in my classes today. I started dong random things so I wouldn’t nod off.
I’m surprised no one noticed me. I stayed up until 1:30 last night trying to
finish all my homework. The crazy thing was I forgot to do some of it. I didn’t
get home until 11:00 and I was trying to do it then but the BET Awards was on.
I eventually stopped watching it and focused on my homework but I got stuck on
two problems. I asked some of my classmates to help me but they were stuck on
those same problems. I was trying my hardest to get it done and I never paid
attention to the time. The next time I looked at my phone it was 1:30 a.m. I
just said forget and got ready for bed. By the time I finished getting ready it
was 2:15. The sad thing is I didn’t go to sleep until fifteen minutes later.
Then I had to get up at 6:30 this morning. Trust me when I say this you need
your sleep.

Time Management
In
college you have to learn time management. Without it you will have a hard time
passing your classes. You have to know what’s important so you can spend more
time on that. For example, if you have two assignments due but one’s due a
couple of days before of the other one then that’s more important. You should focus on the one with the closer
due date because you have to turn that one in first. Don’t get me wrong you
have to spend time doing the other but the other one needs your attention first.
This goes back to another post I made before about putting your priorities in
order. If you do this you should be able to get your work done and have time
for you. In order to get everything done and do what you want you have to
manage your time correctly. If you spend most of your time socializing you’ll never
get your work done. If you spend most of your time doing work you’ll never have
time to do what you want. You got to find a balance between the two. The only
way you going to do that is by managing your time. I’m telling you that is the
key to success in college.

Determination, Dedication, and Discipline
Everyone have dreams and goals that they want to accomplish in life. In order to do that you need the 3 D’s: Determination, Dedication, and Discipline. Without these three things it will be impossible to get anything done. First everyone needs a goal that they want to achieve. Once they have that they got to be determined to reach their goal. You got to say this is what I want and I’m going to get it. Once you’re determined you got to be dedicated. If you’re not determined then what’s the point? There are going to be times where you want to quit and give up but you got to have the power and will to persist. If you don’t you’ll never accomplish any of the goals you set. Of course giving up will be easier but what comes easy is not worth it. Last, you have to have self – discipline. Without self-discipline you’ll be ready to give up any and every time. You got to tell yourself that giving up now won’t give you the glory that you will get in the end if you keep going. Everyone need the three D's in order to succeed in life. Determination + dedication + discipline= success.
Help for College Freshman
I may have not "been in
college" for long but I already know and understand things college
freshman need to know.
1.
Prioritize.
·
Your school work comes before anything else.
Especially before your social life.
·
If you find yourself having a lot of time to
chill with friends and be on social network sites, but not enough time to do
your homework you might want to check your priorities.
2. Don’t get overwhelmed.
·
Don't let your work pile up on you and then when
the due date gets her you got to try to finish all of it.
·
If you know your due date try to do a certain
amount of work each day.
3. Don’t get stressed
·
I know
sometimes the work gets hard and it seems like a lot but you can't let that
stress you out.
·
When you get stressed things seems 10x worst
then what they really are.
4. Don’t procrastinate
·
I am a big procrastinator and I see already that
I'm going to have to change that.
·
The only thing procrastination is going to do is
stress me out, cause me to fail, and hurt me in the long run.
Below I have a link that will help out.
College Life Day 5
One thing that I have learned in these five days is that you have to work hard in college. I can't just do the work in class and expect to pass the test. I'm going to have to study and study hard. College is way different than high school. I have never had to study for a math test. I usually just do the work in class and review when the teacher reviews. Well, college proffesers don't do that. I'm going to have to set aside a time everyday and study the material we went over in class if I expect to pass my classes. I can't just study the day before or right before the test. If I do I'm just setting myself up for failure. Maybe I should find the kids from my school and start a study group. My teacher suggested that but I didnt think I would really need to be in one. I see now that I really need to take her advice into consideration. I am so glad I got the opportunity to take these classes now because they are really getting me prepared for college. If I wouldn't have taken these classes I was in for a rude awakening when I actually got to college.
Monday, June 23, 2014
So today started my first full week of college. For some reason I was actually stressed out. Maybe it's because I kept thinking about the homework I had to complete and the test I have on tomorrow. I'm kind of nervous because I tend to forget things when it comes down to the test. I really don't want to fail my first college test. I really would be stressed then. It would be hard to bring that grade up. I hope I do good on it. In English class we worked on the types of grammar and i really needed that. For some reason I cant seem to get it right. I'll get some of the problems done and then I can't figure out the rest. Maybe I need to get a tutor, or maybe I could do some individual work. I think I'm going to try the second option first and see how that works. I see what people mean now when they say college ain't no joke. I can tell that I cant do here what I do in college. I'm going to have to study and I cant slack off. This is going to be a long four weeks.
